As a series,Jujutsu Kaisencan be quite confusing. The story is not written to be confusing, but more the way the story is structured is meant tokeep an air of mysteryand force the readers to figure things out.
One such mystery is sorcerer Geto Suguru, who appears in the series and is the primary antagonist of the movieJujutsu Kaisen 0.While more about this character will berevealed in the upcoming season, Fans should still have a better understanding of who he is exactly based on the information we have already been presented.

What do We know About Him?
Geto Suguru is a sorcerer who appears in season one of the anime. He appears to be the leader of Mahito and Jugo’s gang of cursed spirits and is the one who comes up with the plan of sealing Gojo using a powerful cursed artifact. However, based on season one of the anime, nothing else is learned about him. He does not show up again besides a few scenes of him talking to the other cursed spirits and children, and then he also never utilizes a cursed technique. Besidesbeing an incredibly intelligent mannothing else is learned about him. However, if the story was told in chronological order, or at least in the order the manga tells it, this becomes clear why.
Geto Suguru actually first appears in chapter 0 of theJujutsu Kaisenmanga. He is the main antagonist of the series and much more is learned about him in those interactions. Geto is introduced, once again, as someone who is allying with cursed spirits and using them to cause mayhem. However, we later see he also has alliances with other sorcerers which oppose the school. The reason being is Geto hates non-sorcerers.

It is revealed through the movieJujutsu Kaisen 0,Geto wishes to eliminate all humans who cannot use cursed energy from existence. He believes curse users are the superior beings and should be the only things allowed to exist. It is then fans learn his cursed technique actually allows him to collect curse spirits himself and then have them battle for him. He’s essentiallytheJujutsu Kaisenequivalent of a pokemon trainer, and being he is also one of only a handful of special grade sorcerers in the series, he is also a quite powerful one.
Geto operates in the shadows for the majority ofJujutsu Kaisen 0,but eventually confronts Tokyo Jujutsu High himself and challenges them to a war. He spent years collecting powerful cursed spirits and telling them the day and time he will be unleashing them on the human population to wipe them out. This is of course with him being aware that despite all this,he knows he cannot beat Gojo. Funnily enough, that is the only sorcerer he thinks he cannot be. Geto is so powerful he believes he can actuallybeat any other sorcerer in the show. These scenes of him at the school making this declaration of war not only highlights his confidence but allude to a friendship he and Gojo used to share. Ultimately, Geto is defeated by the protagonist of the movie Yuta Okkotsu and then Geto is found and killed by his best friend Gojo Satoru.
What Remains Unclear
Watching season 1 and then watching the movie creates a completely different experience of the show than it does for those who see the movie first or simply read chapter 0 before reading the rest of the manga. The way the scene should play out is designed to shock the audience. Geto was supposed to have died already, killed by Gojo Satoru, so why is he alive? How did he survive? Did Gojo not finish the job and let him escape? And why does he have that giant scar on his forehead? These are the questions which should have popped up but those who elected to not read chapter 0 or saw the movie after the first season have no strong or emotional reactions to seeing Geto alive. After all, that is their first time seeing him ever!
Even after the release ofJujutsu Kaisen 0much of Geto Suguru is still shrouded in mystery. Anime only fans should be aware of his power and intellect by this point in the series, after all he believed he could beat Gojo by simplycapturing the cursed spirit Rika. However, that still does not answer many other questions surrounding his existence. What is the relationship between Gojo and Geto? How is he still alive if Gojo killed him? Why did he want to wipe all non-sorcerers off the planet? Many of these questions are sure to be answered in season 2 of the anime but until then the totality of who Geto Suguru is will plague the minds of fans.
